What the hell is all that noise?!

30 05 2008
This just in…we now have a full range of bumpers – also known as finger rests and stoppers.
If your scissors are making a lot of noise, its probably because you need a new bumper. Just in case you don’t know, bumpers are those little things that go in between the finger handles of your scissors. They are actually really important to your scissors. They keep your scissors from making that annoying clicking sound (which also makes your scissors sound cheap) and more importantly, they help keep the blades properly aligned so the scissors close properly and they do not overlap. If the blades overlap the sharp part of the blades will be exposed which makes it easily for you to cut yourself, your client and damage the sharp edge of your scissors. All bad things. So, if you need a new one, we’ve got them! If you want color differentiation, we’ve got that too! These bumpers are normally just available in boring black, but we’ve got three different colors of pink, five different shades of blue, three different shades of yellow, two greens, two colors of purple, three shades of red, plus clear and orange.
We also have a range of specialty screw in type bumpers, flat bumpers, etc.

Go to www.scissorboy.com for more information on these products and how to order!

From Angels to Friends to Bob

29 05 2008

It seems like it’s been a while since we’ve seen a hairstyle create the buzz of the “Rachel” on Friends, or the “Angel” of the 70’s. Now, a new trend has emerged. It’s the resurgence of the Bob – named the “Pob” by some, in honor of Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham, who so dramatically traded in her longer, brown locks for a  pumped up blonde version of this style when she moved to LA last year.

Read more about this trend here.

ScissorBoy Bunny Design Contest

27 05 2008
The Re-Design is here! We recently ran a contest among a group of web and logo designers to give us a fun, edgy logo – one resembling a “famous bunny” – that we could put on merchandise like t-shirts and other products.
Scissor Boy provided the prize and people competed to win through their design. We wanted to come up with an attractive, fun design that people would want to wear – and we think we’ve got some great new designs!
Here are the top 4 finalists. Let us know which one’s you would vote for!

One Small Step for Stylists, one giant leap for Hairstyles

26 05 2008
Exciting news at ScissorBoy – we’re branching out to create, host, and produce a new online education channel geared toward stylists, and the first step is complete! We’ve registered our new domain name: TheCuttingEdgeHairShow.com

We’re envisioning a destination site that will educate hairstylists and enable you to stay on the “cutting edge” of your industry and pass on that ground-breaking knowledge to your clients in the form of a spectacular hair style.

We’ll be doing all this by producing video pieces hosted by experts in the field. They’ll walk you through their signature cuts, styles, colors and more and make it easy for you to add their techniques to your repitiore. In addition to these videos, we’ll be providing articles, blogs, and interviews to help you stay at the top of a fast-paced industry.
Leave us comments and suggestions if you have any ideas for shows or topics you’d like to see covered – after all, this is a site dedicated to helping you be a better stylist!

ScissorGirl Found!

25 05 2008

As Scissor Boy introduces a new online education program for stylists, I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself – My name is Alexis and I’m the new Content Producer for The Cutting Edge Hairshow and ScissorBoy. Together with the founder, we have innumerable ideas and offerings up our sleeve!

I am new to the hair biz (though no stranger to a good haircut – I’ve been overly picky and particular about my hair for as long as I can remember), but my background lies in online media and video production, and I’m confident those skills will enhance your experience on the new site.

We’ve been talking to stylists, clients and salon owners, picking their brains concerning trends, perfect execution, what they want to see, and what they can offer you. It’ll be my job to put all these things together – pick the topics that you’re most likely to be interested in, find stylists willing to participate, produce the shoots, coordinate the editing, and – ultimately! – post high-quality content to the site.

Along those lines, if you have any suggestions, questions, or feedback, feel free to get in touch and leave a comment. After all we want to create content that will serve YOU well!
