A hair salon in downtown Victoria, Canada could be yours for only $5,000, and you won’t even have to buy scissors, chairs or stations to put in it. It’s all already there. That’s right, the salon owner is feeling the economic pinch and just wants to get it off his hands. He put up a sign earlier in the week – along side the asking price – that said, “Does anyone have money in the city?” This is a commentary on his situation as well as the situation of the city, since no one has been able to come up with a firm offer. Owner Anton Kashari says if he can’t sell for $5,000, he will keep dropping the price.
“It will go down and down until the end and I put up ‘Free business,’ “he said.
According to Canada.com, Kashari said he started the business three years ago, converting the locale from a flower shop, the store needed some drastic cleaning and painting. Kashari also says he put in about $30,000 in improvements to the plumbing, electrical work, signs and fixtures such as sinks and chairs
He offered his salon for sale about one year ago, using the Internet to advertise across Canada and asking for $30,000. That attracted a few calls but nothing else.
He started bringing the price down. At about $10,000, a few stylists came in expressing interest, but none of them seemed to be able to come up with the cash.
He’s a bit baffled saying it would be a great deal for anyone looking to start out in the business, even if they had to go in on it with a few friends. He says, for that price, a couple of hairstylist students could ask their parents for the money and get a good start in the business.
Kashari’s answer to this enigma? He says too many people just don’t want to work hard or take a little risk. “They just want to be paid for doing nothing.”

Balding isn’t something an 8-year-old should have to worry about, but it’s the reality of life for Bethan Cokeley who has a condition which means her hair will never grow beyond a few wisps. She’ll never get to buy hair scissors, never get to sit in a hairstylists’ chair – not with her real hair any way. But a wig is giving her a new outlook.
Scientists are finding ways to answer this question, and in turn bring you perfect products for your specific hair type. The have mounted hairs on an atomic force microscope for the first time ever, in order to tell how hair follicles react while they rub against each other–and respond to environmental forces like “humidity, water content of hair, and hair stickiness,” Eva Max said in the study.
