A Day of Reposturing

ScissorBoy was in Burlingame this weekend, shooting the first episode for our new online education site, TheCuttingEdgeHairshow.com.

Our first guest was Aaron Parnell, of Reposturing Dynamics. His company teaches people how to achieve better health, wellness and success through correct posture and healthy living. This things are especially important to stylists who are on their feet all day, using their arms and hands, and whose posture can easily erode causing discomfort, pain and even lost income. Aaron said he had one stylist he treated who was having to cut down the number of appointments they took each day due to wrist pain. This person was able to re-align their posture, and begin seeing more clients – which means, more money!

Is Hair Dye Cancerous?

Stylists who work in salons tend to have a higher risk of developing cancer, due to constant exposure to the chemicals in hair dyes. But is the same true of at-home hair coloring kits? A new study seeking to answer that question.

It found that dark-coloured dyes appear to be the most carcinogenic, and they increase the risk of follicular lymphoma 1.5 times. Other dyes seem to be safer, unless you have been using them regularly since before 1980, in which case your risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma goes up 1.3 times the normal rate.
